A dazzling novel in the most untraditional fashion, this is the remarkable story of Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who travels involuntarily through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. Henry and Clare's passionate love affair endures across a sea of time and captures the two lovers in an impossibly romantic trap, and it is Audrey Niffenegger's cinematic storytelling that makes the novel's unconventional chronology so vibrantly triumphant.
An enchanting debut and a spellbinding tale of fate and belief in the bonds of love, The Time Traveler's Wife is destined to captivate readers for years to come.

This is one of the best books I have read in a while! Beautifully written, it's funny, sad, romantic, heart wrenching and thoroughly enjoyable! Highly recommend it.

I became interested in the book after I heard about the movie. I decided that I should probably read the book first before I see the movie because I didn't want the movie to jade the book due to any changes in the screenplay ( and lord know, the movie versions of the books are always different). I had read some of the poorer review, along with the good reviews so I had low expectations of the book...boy was I surprised!!!! I loved the references to music, art and poetry; it made the characters seems so much more real. I laughed and I cried with this book, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone who loves great storytelling.

A wonderful and easy read. The book takes you back and forth, but you never get lost. You feel all the emotions the characters feel. Well written!

Like many readers, I wanted to read this book after I saw a preview for the movie. I was expecting a cheesy, kind of sad, romance novel. Instead, I found the book to be quite sophisticated and moving. The book had a gentle, heartbreaking depth that I didn't expect to find. "The Time Traveler's Wife" was well written and never boring. I found myself tearing through the novel just to see how it ended. I would have given it 5 stars except I felt that there were a few unanswered questions at the end involving Alba. Also, I typically like a cheerier book.

Being a fan of time travel movies and stories, I thought this book would have been a real page turner. Quite frankly, I forced myself to finish it. I honestly don't understand the hoopla this book as gotten. I'd see the movie just out of curiosity. How are they pulling this off in a movie??? You want to see real time travel? Rent yourself the movie "Somewhere in Time" (with Jane Seymour & Christopher Reeves). Now THAT was a great time-travel story, and I guarantee you'll agree. Even Back to the Future in the 80's with Michael J. Fox was better time-travel entertainment! Sorry!
